Paddy The Baddy Officially Has His Next Fight!

OHHHHHH PADDY THE BADDY! HE'S BACK ON DECEMBER 10TH!

If you've been following along with Paddy "The Baddy" Pimblett on social media over the past few weeks (and saw his recent Cage Warriors commentary appearance) this fight announcement shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. He's been training, slimming down, and very open about wanting to get on the final pay-per-view of the year. It was just about finding the right opponent, who happens to be UFC vet Jared Gordon (19-5).

This specific matchup has had some fire to it for a while, as Jared Gordon first called Paddy out last October after a win over former Cage Warriors Champ (and teammate of Paddy) Chris Fishgold....

....and Paddy definitely seemed interested from the jump.

Dana White even announced Jared Gordon as Paddy's next opponent two fights ago (which wound up being untrue) on the Dave Portnoy Show to start the year….

As it was building, I jumped into the fray and caught a few on the chin myself - fair play Jared….

….and Jersey Jerry became his damn BFF in that time….

….but for real - they did a great podcast together where Jared opened up about his addiction and sobriety and all of that and it's definitely worth a listen. Much respect.

ENOUGH SUCKIN THIS GUY OFF THOUGH!!

BACK TO THE FIGHT, WHERE WE DON'T LIKE JARED!!

This is a great fight for Paddy. Gordon is a gritty 7-4 in the UFC since his debut 2017, with one of those losses coming by way of a vicious knockout from the current lightweight king Charles Oliveira (fighting today on UFC 280) - and he's definitely on a level where this would easily be considered the best win of Paddy's career. It's a nice step up in competition but not too steep for our boy to handle.

In the third round of a pretty good fight this past April, Grant Dawson was able to snatch up a lightning-quick rear naked choke against Gordon, and there's no reason for me to believe Paddy can't pull off the same when you take his crafty ass jiu-jitsu into account - but hopefully he's able to do it earlier on in the fight. I don't know if my heart can take a three-rounder.

Meatball Molly is still first up in just a few weeks at the Garden, though….
