If You Think Reclining Your Seat On a Plane Is Rude Then You're a Moron

New York Post:

A user on Reddit named u/cherryham123 recently shared that she was on a flight to the U.S. from Australia — “14 hours,” she added — “and sometime into the flight, I reclined my seat to sleep.”But then, the person posted, “The girl behind me poked me and told me to not recline my seat because she was uncomfortable. What is the etiquette here?”

First of all, whoever wrote this article is a crazy person for going on Reddit and finding this person's story. Regardless I have recently switched up my stance on this and I hate the excuse that if you pay for a seat you can do whatever you want.

There are unwritten rules of life that I will list at some point in another blog. As Larry David says, one of his rules is that you need to tip toe in the middle of the night if you get up to go to the bathroom. Just courtesy that a lot of people don't have that anymore.

Now reclining on a flight has given me anxiety for years because I am a long bastard and can never get comfortable on flights. My biggest worry was the TVs because if you recline the person behind you is all fucked up watching their film.

There need to be a couple of official rules when it comes down to reclining your chair. First rule is that you should have a height limit for when you can recline, just like for a rollercoaster. If you are 5'8" and under you should not be able to recline your chair because you are small enough to squirm around and make yourself comfortable in that chair no matter what. Sorry, but you already have an advantage on a flight since you can stand up at any time and not hit your head. You don't need to pay for comfort + because you have small enough legs in the economy seats.

A universal rule for reclining should just be if the person in front of you does it then you're in the clear yourself. That doesn't help the person in the final row, but if you buy the last row of a flight it should be discounted anyways.

You have to be an absolute crazy person to poke the person's chair in front of you if they recline. The button is there for a reason so why wouldn't that person be able to to use it. If you poke the chair you should be arrested. You are just an asshole if you think that is okay and us recliners should be looked at as heroes to make sure people are comfortable. All I look for in life now is what will make me the most comfortable. That is really the only thing that matters in life and if you don't think that you are probably rude and are the assholes who poke chairs when people recline. Grow up and appreciate comfort.
