Pinball Pick Six! Penn State Comes Up With a Wild Interception To Get Themselves Back In The Game Against Michigan

You see tip drills all the time on interceptions, but rarely do you see three different defenders touch the ball before coming down with a takeaway. That's precisely what happened on this one for Penn State, as Curtis Jacobs ultimately rumbled 48 yards to the end zone to give the Nittany Lions a 14-13 lead.

Chop Robinson did a hell of a job getting into JJ McCarthy's passing lane to break that play up in the first place. Then, that screwy pigskin took a strange bounce and doinked off the helmet of PJ Mutispher before Jacobs came up with it and beat McCarthy in a footrace to the goal line.

Michigan wound up tacking on a field goal just before halftime to go back up 16-14, but other than a long run by quarterback Sean Clifford, Penn State has struggled to generate offense. Clifford's 62-yard scamper accounted for almost all of the Nittany Lions' 83 total yards, compared to the 274 the Wolverines piled up. The visitors are lucky to even be within striking distance. That's what can happen when your defense steps up like this.
