Rick Rubin Went On Joe Rogan And Casually Announced He Helped The Strokes Produce A New Album

CoS - The Strokes recently recorded a new album in Costa Rica with producer Rick Rubin.

Rubin shared the news during an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience that went live on Wednesday (October 12th).

“A few months ago, I was in Costa Rica recording a new album with The Strokes,” Rubin revealed. “We rented this house on the top of a mountain and set the band up outside. So it’s like, they’re doing a concert for the ocean on the top of a mountain. And we did that everyday — it was incredible. They didn’t want to leave, it was like the best experience.”

The as-yet-unannounced album would mark the follow-up to 2020’s The New Abnormal, which was also produced by Rubin.

Rick Rubin is one of the most fascinating enigmas on the planet in my opinion. The episode of Dave that centered around working with him was something I wish Lil Dicky had made a ten-part behind the scenes documentary of because I can't get enough learning about the guy and what makes him tick.

The Strokes have been kind of up and down with a bit of a tumultuous history, but with Rubin talking about how incredible this trip was, and the recording session being, all signs point to that being in the past.

Rubin last collaborated with the band on their last record, “The New Abnormal.”

It came out so good they decided to link up again, this time in Costa Rica.

With Rubin spilling the beans on the album being done we can probably expect an announcement date any day now.
