EVERYONE RELAX: Phillies Lose Game 2 And We're Going Back To South Philly Tied 1-1

Just one of those nights*. You could blame the ump show at times. Almost everyone is going to blame Rhys at 1st, who AT LEAST had to knock down this 1-2, 2 out hot shot from Matt Olsen.

Personally I believe it was mostly 2 things:

1) The Phillies lineup sharting themselves pretty much from the beginning. I mean, when Bryce leads off the 2nd with a double, you HAVE to find a way to get him in. You just gotta. But other than that the Phillies didn't even come close to sniffing a score. The last time I checked, you can't win a baseball game scoring *checks abacus* 0 runs.

B) The Phillies didn't exactly lose it as much as the Braves won it. Timely, clutch 2-out hitting combined with all-time defensive plays from Swanson and Riley show Atlanta knew this was a beyond must win game. And they won it. Good for them.

Look, the Braves are a great baseball team. A better team than the Phillies. That's just a fact. The reality is 99% of you Fightins faithful would've taken 1-1 heading back to Philly before the series started. If not, then you're just wildly unrealistic or clinically insane. Possibly both. Sure, we all wanted a clean 2-0 lead, but the sky ain't falling. Philly Rob is gonna keep the Phillies calm, cool, and collected heading home. King Nola gets the ball and he's gonna need to throw his 3rd career game in a row. Oh, and if the very top of the lineup can do something at the plate *cough SCHWARBER AND HOSKINS cough* and maybe mix in a dinger here and there, that would be swell, too.

We'll see Friday. As Phillies and only Phillies legend Tug McGraw always said in Philadelphia and only Philadelphia...

*Key word: Night - as the rest of the series will be played, like yesterday, during the day, in which the 101 win Braves were 24-27 during the regular season under the sun. Does that matter? Maybe. Maybe not. But we'll take anything we can get.
