It Feels Like The Narrative Is Shifting The Way We Hoped: Fields Is Good, The Bears Suck

It felt good to scour the internet yesterday as the dust settled from yet another loss that felt like a punch in the gut and see that fans and talking heads alike are coming around on Justin Fields. It has been a rough start to the season for Fields and the Bears offense, but the Vikings game offered a glimmer of hope which is all this city has wanted for generations now. Signs of life from the quarterback position. When you watch Baldy breakdown the game you realize that Fields is starting to see things more and improve week over week. It's like learning math or a foreign language. You need a foundation to stack things on. Step by step. Paso a paso. Fields is doing that all while having historically bad weapons and an offensive line that has seemingly gotten worse each week

"Impossible to play quarterback like this"

That is now the sentiment and honestly that is all I ever wanted. The Bears have $100M+ in cap space and a full cupboard of draft picks to surround fields with what is needed to compete consistently next year. The Bears didn't spend a nickel this offseason by design. You have to think that Pettis, Smith-whathisname, etc won't be with the Bears next year and they'll be replaced with competent NFL athletes that can do things like 1) catch the ball and 2) hold on to it once they've established possession. Things this current group can't really do outside of Mooney.

Get Fields a true #1, get him a real #3, get some interior line help on both sides, and all of a sudden this thing doesn't look so bad. The Bears have been competitive in every single game so far this year and they're doing so with a significant and easily identifiable talent gap at basically every position. That makes me feel good about this coaching staff and what we saw out of Fields on Sunday made me feel even more like he can be the guy. The hardest things to find in the NFL are good coaches and good QBs. We've seen enough to have hope that the Bears could have both. Now Poles and his staff just need to fill out the rest of the team.

I like the Bears to win on Thursday. Let's go. Full Recap show below
