DJ LeMahieu Has a Foot Fracture And Scott Effross Needs TJ Surgery - The Yankees Postseason Roster Has Experienced Quite The Shake Up

Here we go, it's time for the Yankees postseason to begin with the ALDS getting going tonight. There were a few roster questions heading into today in regards to the pen and the status of DJ LeMahieu. Well, all hell broke loose when Jack Curry dropped this bomb on us.

Someone we didn't even think would be unavailable, Scott Effross, is off the roster after it was discovered he needs TOMMY JOHN SURGERY. Bro what the fuck? Effross went on the IL in September with shoulder stiffness. He came back and threw one inning before the postseason got going. Now he's done for this postseason and likely all of next year. 

Absolutely brutal hit to an already thin pen. Effross was seen as one of a few guys who could potentially close for the Yankees in these games. Now that's gonna fall squarely on the shoulders of someone like Johnny Loaisiga or Clay Holmes. Hell, it seems Jameson Taillon is gonna be relied upon to get legit out of the pen. The bullpen is a complete mystery and that terrifies me. At least Aroldis Chapman is nowhere near this team. 

The answer to this problem? Score runs, lot of them. A hit to that equation comes in the form of DJ LeMahieu being left off the ALDS roster. This is nowhere near the shock value that Effross' absence brings. DJ has been hampered with a toe injury for a while now and seemed like a long shot to make the roster. Now it's revealed he's dealing with a foot fracture and not just a toe thing, 

Yup, he's done. With Oswald Peraza inexplicably off the roster that aligns your defense as Rizzo at first, Gleyber at 2nd, IKF at SS, and Donaldson at 3rd. Oswaldo is going to be your starting LF and when Carpenter comes in to pinch hit for IKF late that'll move Cabrera to short. That leaves Aaron Hicks or Marwin to play LF late. I hate that move so much. Peraza should be on this roster no questions asked but they don't trust the more talented kid. Fucking Cashman. 

Three keys to tonight. 1) Guys around Aaron Judge have to hit because I don't expect Cleveland to pitch to him. Gleyber, Stanton, Donaldson all have to come through. 2) figure out the bullpen. Guys like Clarke Schmidt and Jamo have to step up. Loaisiga is going to need to become THE GUY. 3) Gerrit Cole has to shove. Be the guy we paid all this fucking money to. Has to happen or they have no shot.
