A Comedian Had A Can Of Beer Tossed At Her By A Heckler Then Immediately Chugged The Rest Of The Beer (No, I Wasn't At The Show)

Philly Voice.com - New York-based comedian Ariel Elias' stand-up performance at a club in Point Pleasant Beach was interrupted Saturday night when a heckler in the crowd threw a can of beer at her after a verbal altercation.

The incident at Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club was caught on video by fellow comedian Gianmarco Soresi and was shared on Elias' Twitter account Sunday morning. It has since gone viral, amassing more than 4.3 million views as of Monday afternoon.

Been tagged in this video 6 or 7 million times this weekend. A comedian made the choice of bringing up politics in her set, which she's entitled to do. A spectator didn't agree and went into a debate about voting , who to vote for etc. Of course the situation then gets ugly.

Few things to unpack here. I don't do politics, I don't follow politics, I don't care about politics. I do know it's a hot button issue as seen in this video. People go wacky over politics, if I was a comedian I would avoid it altogether. Ariel Elias chose not to avoid it and had a fan get so worked up he hurled a beer at her.

Inexcusable behavior. Can't just be chucking cans around for a little comment that sets you off, which some people call a trigger.

Look I'm obviously poking fun at myself here, but I will say this having been in a similar situation. The person who threw that beer, if they have any pulse on the situation, instantly regretted it. Additionally, they now have to live with that moment being held over their head forever. It's a horrible feeling, and what makes it worse is he and I had no one to blame but themselves. Shit can get hairy, anger can be a difficult thing to control , and losing your cool brings way more negative than positive.

Sometimes it takes a low point to realize you need to change some things. I'd like to hope they find that same conclusion and begins working towards never repeating that behavior. I know I am.

Once again, for those asking. No I wasn't at the comedy show.

ps- Great work by Ariel chugging the rest of that drink after it was hurled at her. Keeping a cool head then cooling down further with a refreshing drink is a goal we should all strive toward.
