Off An Early College Football Winner, I Have Another!

As I said in another blog, an improbable win that I will take in my bet earlier in Purdue/Maryland moving to 10-4 on the season with my best bet blog breakdowns. For me, it's all about quality over quantity. Let's get after it.

Currently at Barstool Sportsbook, Iowa State is a 1.5 point underdog at Kansas State.

Kansas St is rolling… they have been terrific recently. This offense is moving and Adrian Martinez looks really comfortable at the helm for this offense. He has nine touchdowns in the last two games alone. However this is just a team in Iowa State that they have struggled with over the years whose off two straight losses of their own. With K-State the general goal of this offense is to run the ball with great running back, Deuce Vaughn. That will be easier said than done against this Cyclones run defense. They just make everyone look below average. They are allowing just 2.6 yards per carry and just 79 a game. On defense, as a whole they are allowing just 15.5 points per game. As I said they make everyone look below average. In the last second loss to Kansas, the Jayhawks only scored 14. This defense at every level is just downright stingy.

The truth is though it hasn't been easy for Iowa State to move the ball. The offensive line hasn't played up to par at times and QB Hunter Dekkers has felt some sophomore blues and had issues with interceptions. I expect him to be solid and not turn the ball over. If he doesn't do that, Iowa St will win. Dekkers has showed through WR's like Xavier Hutchinson that he can move the ball effectively. I expect a bounce back effort from ISU here. Against any offense with a pulse this year K ST has struggled to get stops and this secondary is giving up nearly 250 passing yards a game.

Keep in mind, Iowa St is  3-0 when allowing fewer than 100 rushing yards, and 0-2 when teams hit the 100-yard mark or more this year. K State junior Deuce Vaughn in two games career vs Iowa St hasn't been able to do that. This game will come down to two things, stopping the run for Iowa St, and Dekkers not turning it over. If they do that, they win.

ISU are at home here and desperate to right the ship against a team they've beaten in three of the last four seasons. They have the much better defense and the betting public is feeling this K State team. If your going to give me a point at home with in my opinion the overall better team, I'm in. Iowa St wins 24-21.
