Chalk Up Another Win For NIL And College Hoops: Drew Timme Says He's Making More Than $500,000 By Staying At Gonzaga

[Source] - Let’s just say you went pro. How much would you have made this season?

If I had to ballpark it, I would say $200,000-$500,000. If I could have been drafted where some better projections had me, it’s more.

How much will you make this season while staying in college?

I won’t get too far into specifics, but it’s going to be more. It will be more than that.

I know people see that number and start to freak out. Again, I don't give a shit what people get paid. It's called living life man. Someone thought Drew Timme was worth that much so he paid him. Can people be confused? Sure. That's not uncommon. I'm confused by shit daily in terms of people catching breaks and success and all that. But this is about NIL and Drew Timme and me finally being able to talk college basketball again.

This is a win for NIL. This is a win for college basketball. Say what you want about Drew Timme (he's good, I promise) but college basketball is better with him coming back. So many people complain that college basketball doesn't keep players long enough because all the good ones leave after one year, maybe two. Blame the NBA rule for that. You now have a guy that's coming to back college again.

That's a win. That's a win for the sport. That's a win for NIL. Keep guys like Timme who are likely two-way contract types for another year. Why not? It's good for anyone who isn't a diehard fan to know names back. We have that again. We have the reigning NPOY coming back for the first time since Hansbrough. We have a guy who was one of the biggest stars in March coming back. We have basically every single good big man coming back.

That's why this season is going to be awesome. We have a true mix of older guys + big name freshmen. There's intrigue everywhere - I'll have more on that in another blog (along with some other projects). But Drew Timme getting $500,000? That's a win.
