Victor Wembanyama Wasted No Time Showing Off His Full Arsenal of Skills In Epic Showcase Vs. G League Ignite

With all due respect to Scoot Henderson and how well he played on Tuesday night in a 122-115 win for his team, we're here to talk about Victor Wembanyama. In the first of two exhibition matchups between Wembanyama's Metropolitans 92 and Henderson's G League Ignite squad, the 7-foot-4 French phenom came out firing with skills that will boggle the minds of the uninitiated.

Whereas Henderson gives me some "More Controlled Russell Westbrook" vibes, Wembanyama is a one-of-one talent. No matter what Henderson does, any team in their right mind at the top of next year's NBA Draft will be taking Wembanyama No. 1 overall. The only real knock you can put on Wembanyama right now is that he's not muscular. He also just turned 18 in January.

The level of polish and skill this late teen has is beyond impressive. His motor runs hot on both ends of the floor. It'd be so easy for someone that tall to just coast off that natural frame, not work all that hard and ultimately arrive in the NBA regardless. Already the impression is that Wembanyama truly wants to be great, which is so thrilling for any basketball fan.

Would you like some more Victor Wembanyama goodness on a night where he has 37 points (seven 3-pointers), five blocks and four boards? Of course you would. Here you go I got you...first swats...

Then shots shots shots...

Similar to Luka Doncic several years back, Wembanyama will have a learning curve to adjust to when he lands in the NBA. The rules are markedly different from across the pond and there's so much more space on the larger-dimensioned stateside courts. Luka spoke on JJ Redick's podcast a while ago about how the NBA actually increased his ceiling as a scorer.

For someone like Wembanyama who's as athletic and graceful as he is and is basically playing on a kid's rim from his height, the possibilities feel endless — especially once he packs on even a little bit of muscle and gets that innate, grown-ass man strength going.

'Tis the season of Halloween and based on how much Wembanyama is already living up to the hype, pretty sure when he lands in the NBA next season, we'll have some sort of holiday-themed nickname ready to go for him. Slender Man. The Shape. Boogeyman. IDK. Let me know what y'all think of my tanking slogan from late June ICYMI:
