With All Due Respect To Rico Bosco, Being Bald Is Actually Pretty Cool

I can no longer stay silent. Rico Bosco has gone too far this time. Just days ago on this very blog, Rico referred to Gaz as "Bald Paul" in his piece of investigative journalism. This was not just a descriptor to differentiate him from other Pauls, which would have been fine. However it was clearly done in a derogatory manner. This is a vicious and snide comment meant to poke fun at Gaz for his lack of head hair.

I haven't heard a comment this snide since Frank and Nate played corn hole. Don't be snide!

I'm not here to defend anyone's actions or choices. Those are completely open to scrutiny. I'm just pointing out that we shouldn't be trying to make fun of or shame people for things they can't control, like being bald. This isn't the first time I've spoken out against body shaming. A year ago, actor John Cusack blocked me on Twitter because I said he shouldn't make fun of how short White Sox Dave is.

I hope I don't get the same reaction from Rico, but that is a risk I'm willing to take to do the right thing. This isn't just to call out the body shaming or throw a pity party for us Balds. I don't believe we need it. As someone who has been bald for years now, I can honestly say there are great benefits to being bald and I think we should lean into it rather than hide from it.

Being bald means I never have to wonder if my hair looks good. I sit in front of Brandon Walker and every time he sits down, he has to comb his hair and spray it with salt water. (New York has changed him!).

Being bald has also saved me thousands of dollars in haircuts. Say a haircut is $30 and you get about 10 a year. That's $300 a year. I would much rather spend that money on Barstool merch, especially with the big and tall sizes available.

Don't take my word for it. A Yahoo Finance study found that bald men are perceived to be smarter, masculine and more successful.

So, to my bald brothers, fear not. Balding is completely normal and you are not alone. In fact, you're in pretty good company! So, if someone brings up your baldness, embrace it like the masculine, smart, successful man you are!
