Rico Overreactions NFL Week 4

Remember in grade school or high school when you would feel like the year just started, and the next thing you know it's progress report time. And that 70 you got on the only test , that you figured you had time to make up on the next one never came. The homework you blew off becomes a huge mark against you , and now you are holding a D when you hand it over to your parents.

That's how I feel when I realize 1 quarter of the NFL season is basically done. It's a long season but it's also a quick season.

1- The Lions Are Must See TV

Call them what you will … good (a stretch) , bad, or not that bad, but you cannot deny The Lions are Must See TV at this point. The Eagles are 4-0 are the closest margin of victory was a Week 1 win over the Lions in which the Lions came back from a 31-14 deficit in the 3rd quarter. The Lions blow leads, come back down big, and everything in between.

If there was a Red Zone award thus far, it would 100000% be the Detroit Lions. Every time you turn on the TV they are in a wild one. Shame on The NFL for not scheduling the Lions in a single primetime game this season. The world will have to wait until Thanksgiving against the Bills to truly appreciate how much fun this team is.

2- Cowboys Could Make The Playoffs

Hear me out. The NFC has very few elite teams and of those  none are unbeatable, the Rams could take their second loss tonight , The Bucs are 2-2, The Eagles are hot but played a weak schedule, The Packers are great but lost to the Vikings in Week 1, and The Giants are pesky but not elite. Then theres a drop to a bunch of teams fighting for playoff life. The Cowboys have to be in that mix, and should be all season. Dak is like 4-5 weeks away from a return and the more Cooper Rush goes on, and the more he manages to steer this ship to wins, the more it shows Dallas will be fine with either guy under center.

Now add in an ELITE Cowboys defense that averages just 15.5 ppg (3rd best in the NFL) , 308.5 yards per game (7th in the NFL) and 3.8 sacks per game (2nd in the NFL), and you cannot count the Cowboys out.

The schedule definitely gets harder coming up (@ Rams, @ Eagles, Lions, Bears, @ Packers, @ Vikings)  but if Dallas can manage to go 3-3 in that run they will still be in the race. A big accomplishment considering it looked like everyone wrote them off when Dak when down.

3- The Ravens Love Blowing Leads

Reminder we're only 4 weeks into the season and The Ravens have blown 2 leads of 17+ points. Someone tell John Harbaugh there's 4 quarters and playing not to lose can be very dangerous.

4- Carolina Needs to Switch Quarterbacks

This one may not be an overreaction just a straight fact. The Baker experiment should be done. I don't care if you're backup is PJ Walker, Carolina needs to realize Baker Mayfield is not the guy.

Through a month, Baker is :

27th in total passing yards, has just 4 passing TD's and 3 INT's, a QBR of 15.4 , and a completion percentage of just 54.7 % .

Put in PJ Walker, and pray for a high pick. He can't possibly be any worse than Baker.

PS- I told Big Ev on Picks Central the Falcons would have a better record than the Panthers by year end. I like how it's going so far.

5- The Giants Have The Two Best Runners In The NFL

Call this home cooking but did you see The New York Football Giants pound the rock yesterday ? Did you see Daniel Jones run, scratch that …. did you see him SPRINT for 2 touchdowns yesterday ?

How about Barkley's 146 on the ground yesterday ? The second most in the league in Week 4.

The G-Men have brought back Thunder and Lightning … watch out NFL. Better figure out limiting the pass, because you sure ain't stopping the ground attack .
