Coolio Has Taken The True “Fantastic Voyage.” Rapper Sadly Passes Away At Age 59. R.I.G.P.

(Hit the music before you read this blog)

TMZ- Coolio died Wednesday in Los Angeles ... TMZ has learned.

The rapper who achieved enormous success in the 90s was visiting a friend late Wednesday afternoon when he passed away.

Coolio's longtime manager, Jarez, says Coolio went to the bathroom at his friend's house, but when he didn't come after a while ... the friend kept calling for him, and eventually went in and found Coolio laying on the floor.

We're told the friend called EMTs, who arrived and pronounced Coolio dead on the scene -- and Jarez tells us the paramedics suspect he suffered cardiac arrest. An official cause of death has not been determined.

Getting old fucking sucks guys.

We’re losing our musicians and rappers at an alarming rate. I guess it comes with adding more birthday candles to the cake.

This is another sad story of an artist gone too soon. Yes 59 is too soon. Especially for a guy who showed no real signs of being gone anytime soon.

I just played a show at Liqrbox in Chicago with Coolio last summer. Guy crushed it. The crowd fucking loved him and you could tell he still loved doing what he did.

People will obviously remember him for his biggest hit, “Gangsta’s Paradise”, made famous by the Michelle Pfifer film “Dangerous Minds”

And for great reason, it’s an amazing song.

But he was a legit rapper with legit hits. Just because he didn’t conform to the “gangsta rap” style of the 90s, I feel he kind of got discounted and written off. Undeservedly.

As the blog title refers to, “Fantastic Voyage” was a fucking banger.

As was “1,2,3,4”

Pour one out for Coolio tonight.
