Having Escaped His Nebraska Hostage Situation, Adrian Martinez Led Kansas State To A Huge Upset Over Oklahoma!!

We all know Nebraska has had many close calls and heartbreaking defeats in recent years. Notorious was recently fired coach Scott Frost for his 22 one-possession losses. I think we now know who was most to blame — and it wasn't Adrian Martinez. You can't pin that shit on the seasoned signal-caller, because guess what? Martinez just marched into Norman, Oklahoma, and knocked off the sixth-ranked Sooners as Kansas State's quarterback!

I'm sure Cornhuskers fans living in denial will be all like, "WHERE THE FUCK WAS THAT WHEN YOU PLAYED FOR US, ADRIAN!?" and so on but hot damn. Martinez is still acclimating to his new digs after so long in Lincoln's college football purgatory. Keep that in mind. Yeah, helps to have a dynamic tailback like Deuce Vaughn next to you, yet Martinez put forth one of the most dominant dual-threat performances you could ask for in a hostile environment.

Clutch throw after clutch throw…and two game-sealing runs. One was a back-breaker on 3rd and 16 with the Sooners mounting a late comeback charge, and the next was Martinez squeaking into the end zone for his fourth rushing TD of the night.

To outduel an excellent counterpart in Dillon Gabriel is no small task. Martinez was more than up for it. Given that Kansas State's offense struggled in a 17-10 loss to Tulane last Saturday, few could've anticipated this type of performance was coming from Martinez. You'd think a reputable, longtime ex-Clemson defensive coordinator in Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables would've had a better plan to contain the Wildcats QB. Not the case whatsoever. Eat that shit for breakfast, Brent Venables — Adrian Martinez just dunked on you and your crazy-ass eyeballs in your own house!

Once the stunning contest was over, Martinez spoke about how he played more carefree than usual, essentially figuring he had little to lose off that clunker of a performance last week:

If that above quote was indeed Martinez's objective, consider the mission a raging, accomplished success.

I was being a little facetious and sarcastic about all the Nebraska shit, by the way. Can't wait for the vast majority of Cornhuskers supporters to skip past this last line of the blog and light me up in the comments hehehe. Not gonna lie, I've always liked Martinez for his spunky competitive fire and how he kept Nebraska in a lot of games. Never thought I'd see him ball out to this degree given the large sample size of "meh" performances.

Good news, Nebraska: Adrian Martinez gave you the parting gift of avenging your recent 49-14 loss to the Sooners!
