Texas Spent $280,000 in 48 Hours for Arch Manning's Official Visit

The Athletic has a good breakdown of what an official visit at a school like Texas looks like, particularly when there's someone like Arch Manning coming to campus. The Longhorns spent more than a quarter of a million dollars in just a couple days to woo a handful of recruits including Manning this summer, with things like rooms at the Four Seasons, $37,000 steakhouse dinners and an ice sculpture.

I don't think it's any sort of surprise schools with nearly unlimited money are footing bills like that for visits, especially those including recruits who can potentially change your program. All I really gleaned from this story is that I would very much enjoy having a son who's great at football so I can go to some of these things. They sound awesome.

And recruits get five official visits. I don't care if you're 100 percent certain of where you're going, you'd be a moron to not use every one of them. All it comes down to now is NIL money anyway, just go enjoy your five weekends staying in a luxury hotel and eating at fancy steakhouses for free.

Obviously Arch enjoyed his time in Austin, because he committed to the Longhorns just days after this visit. We'll find out soon enough if he's what he's cracked up to be.
