RJ Barrett Ain't Going Nowhere, Is Finalizing A 4-Year Extension With The Knicks That Could Be Worth Up To $120 Million
Look at the Knicks signing a first round pick to an extension for the first time since Charlie fucking WARD! Tell'em Kev...
I know Mitchell Robinson got an extension as a second rounder. But there is something especially heart breaking about not extending any of the guys you got in the lottery year after year as a straight up poverty franchise for decades.
Anyway, it's hard not to be happy for RJ Barrett and the Knicks here. The Knicks got a guy that wanted to be here, has shown improvements every season here, and now will hopefully be here if/when this franchise actually turns a corner once they can get some more stars here. Oh yeah and Barrett recently turned 22 years old which means he just so happens to be younger than any of the "kids" on the Knicks like Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes, Obi Toppin, and Jericho Sims.
Back to the whole "bringing stars to New York" talk, Woj gave us some more news about how everything is going on the Donovan Mitchell front outside of that very weird sentence in his first tweet since nobody with a brain thought RJ was being included in a Mitchell trade.
Hey Danny, does this look like the face of a guy that fucks around and gives up the whole farm for a player who wants out?

I know when people see orange, blue, and a basketball inside of a triangle, they think Sucker. I don't blame them because that's exactly the way it has been for pretty much every year Donnie Walsh or Leon Rose weren't in charge and Danny Ainge's signature has been to bleed every asset out of a team he is dealing with.
But the Knicks aren't going to be doing deals like they used to with the rest of the NBA or like the Timberwolves just did with the Jazz now that this current regime is in charge. If a Mitchell trade works out, cool. If not, Leon will take his gigantic pile of picks to the next team that gets hijacked to the Trade Machine by an unhappy superstar. But the Knicks will almost definitely have RJ Barrett here for the foreseeable future, which is a good thing no matter how much people that barely watched the Knicks will tell you that is not the case.
Play us off, Rowan!
