The Phillies Might Have Something With This Bryce Harper Kid Who Homered In His First At-Bat With The IronPigs And Hit Another Bomb Later In The Game

I'm a sucker for a good story, and I love to see when hard work and dedication finally pays off. Bryce Harper made his first start with the Phillies' triple-A affiliate Lehigh Valley IronPigs last night. The young man finally got his opportunity to prove himself, and boy oh boy did he make the most out of it.

First trip up to the plate? Moon shot.

Just look at that gigantic smile as he's rounding 3rd. You can tell how much this means to the young fella. And clearly getting that first homer out of the way early was a big confidence boost to the kid. Because he was swinging easy the rest of the night and took another one deep for a 3-run dinger.

Debuts don't get much sweeter than that.

As it stands right now the Phillies are sitting in that 2nd wild card spot. We're just a few days away from the calendar flipping over to September, and you have to imagine the Phils would love to have a bat like Bryce Harper's joining the lineup for that final playoff push. Cinderella can kick rocks for all I care. The best come up story today is Bryce Harper.
