I'm stunned. Sitting here in absolute fucking shock. I can't believe that just happened. Leon Edwards is the new Welterweight Champion and Kamaru Usman is no longer undefeated in the UFC. MMA is the greatest sport on Earth.
Edwards had pretty much the best first round imaginable against Kamaru Usman, starting with this beauty of a takedown....
As the fight wore on, though, Kamaru Usman did exactly what Kamaru Usman does, and he took over with his grappling/cardio advantage against the cage - with each and every takedown looking easier to land than the last.
Leon looked straight-up morally defeated by the fifth round, and his corner realized it. They had to scream at him to stop feeling sorry for himself and sent him back out for one final round where he made all his dreams come true.
Just as the commentary team was discussing Usman's win, "writing Edwards' obituary" as Daniel Cormier put it, Leon Edwards threw the perfect head kick that sent Usman into another dimension. Fight over - INSTANTLY. New world champ.

Side note - Usman had a couple weird moments in this fight where it looked like maybe he got eye poked/kicked in the nuts, but the replays both revealed otherwise. I'm not calling him a dirty fighter or anything, but that can't be happening when you're the champ - it's a weird look.
I assume they'll run this fight back immediately, considering what Kamaru Usman's performance looked like before the head kick landed, but for now - I'll just say CONGRATULATIONS TO LEON EDWARDS!!! That was amazing.
UPDATE: Not only is Dana White all for Edwards/Usman 3 next, he mentioned WEMBLEY STADIUM as a possibility for the venue!
