Easton Oliverson, the Little League World Series player who was in critical condition after falling off the top bunk of a bed, is awake and speaking, according to a social media post from his family. The 12-year-old pitcher and outfielder for the Snow Canyon team out of Santa Clara, Utah, was hospitalized with a serious head injury.

On Monday, Oliverson was taken to the hospital after falling from the bed, which was located in a dorm in Williamsport, Pa. According to Oliverson's father, Jace, he suffered a punctured artery that caused bleeding on the brain.

This is a story I was afraid of blogging the last few days until we got some positive news. On Monday a player on Utah's Little League World Series team by the name of Easton Oliverson fell out of his bunk bed in one of the Williamsport dorms and fractured his skull. He required emergency surgery to stop the bleeding in his brain and save his life. Absolutely horrifying stuff.

Luckily today we got some really good news from his family.

Doctors say if his teammates weren't so fast in realizing he fell in the middle of the night he would have died. 30 minutes later and Easton would have passed away. Now he's awake, talking, eating/drinking on his own, and even gradually walking here and there. He's been moved out of the ICU and is now in a normal hospital room. The kid is a champ.

His favorite player Mookie Betts recorded this video for him sending best wishes.

Little wrinkle here…with Easton obviously unable to play, his team from Snow Canyon, Utah is down a man entering the LLWS. They've selected his brother Brogan to join the squad as an alternate to pIay in the tournament. That is AWESOME.

Their first game is tomorrow at 3:00 EST. If you're not rooting for Snow Canyon from Santa Clara, Utah I don't know what you're doing.

P.S. Easton is an 80 grade baseball name. Impossible to be bad at the sport if that's your first name.

P.P.S. As a kid I never once felt safe falling asleep in a bunk bed. This story only takes that fear and multiplies it by 100.
