USA Hockey May Never Lose Another Game If They Keep Showing Up In These Sweaters

Look good, feel good, kick the everliving crap out of everybody else you play against.

There were a few dark years when USA Hockey looked lost. You know when you have a friend who studied abroad for 6 months and then comes back as a completely different person? That was essentially what happened to USA Hockey when Nike took over the uniforms right before the 2018 Olympics. The weird kaleidoscope looking pattern on the sleeves. The futuristic dystopian font. The colors that were all over the place. The USA Hockey we once knew and loved seemed to be gone. But sometimes in order to move forward, you must first go back.

And as long as USA Hockey continues to wear the 1960 throwbacks, there's literally no stopping this program. I mean they won their one and only game they played at the original 2022 World Juniors back in December over Slovakia in these sweaters. And then last night they put a total beatdown on the Germans.

Luke Hughes got the boys going with this bullet from the point.

Crazy stat here but that makes Luke Hughes the first Hughes brother to score at the World Juniors. I couldn't believe it either when I read it. But I guess it makes sense since Jack only played the one time. Still pretty nuts.

Then Logan Cooley got involved fresh off of being the 3rd overall pick in the NHL Draft last month.

If I were Logan Cooley I'd still spend as many years playing at the University of Minnesota as I could before making the jump over to the Arizona Coyotes. He'll feel like more of a professional hockey player at Minnesota than he will having to play a bunch of Wednesday afternoon games with the Coyotes at Arizona State.

Red Savage, the best name in hockey currently, also got on the board. Nothing really to say about that one besides the point that his name is sick.

A great performance from the gentlemen to kick off the tournament. A nice, easy 5-1 win to get the engines running. And it all comes down to the sweaters. Nice and simple, don't fix what ain't broke. It's as clean of a design as they come. Even when you plaster the Chipotle ads all over the place, it's not a total disaster.

If USA Hockey wants to win back-to-back gold medals at the World Juniors for the first time ever, all they need to focus on is rotating between these sweaters and the whites.

Pretty simple game when you think about it.
