Game On! The NHL Season Kicks Off Today In Prague Which Means It's Time For My Redemption Tour

We have a battle of the NHL's prehistoric animal logos as the Global Series kicks off the 2022-2023 NHL season in the Czech Republic this afternoon at 2. The planet's longest running predator vs. an extinct cat that was a bad mo-fo with a bad-ass name.

These gussied-up Sharks unis are pretty GD sharp.

But these Teal Tuxedos are stellar.

And while the Preds didn't fiddle with their look this off-season, they still have arguably the coolest logo origin story in sports.

After Nashville and San Jose played exhibition games vs. local teams in Switzerland and Germany, respectively, the teams will face off in a pair of tilts at Prague's O2 arena to spread the gospel of the NHL overseas and get the ball rolling on another highly-anticpated season.

While the league has lost a lot of its snarl this century, the collective talent has never been better and the NHL gets a little better each year because of the annual influx of elite players. Additonally, more people are gambling on the NHL than I've ever seen in my lifetime.

For the elephant in the room that was my calamitous, historically bad NHL '21-'22 season, it is what it is. Can't cry over spilled milk. I flat-out stunk and just never turned the corner. What are ya gonna do?

Turn the page, move on, and start fresh.

Juuse Saros is healthy again and among the best goalies in the league. The Preds upgraded their D by trading for stalwart veteran Ryan McDonagh, signed UFA Nino Niederreiter, and are arguably a better team this season.

Meanwhile, just three years after losing in the conference finals, the Sharks are a lottery team in cap hell with no easy way out. And while James Reimer has carved himself out a nice career after establishing himself as a #1, he's overmatched here and the Sharks are gonna get outgunned by a more cohesive Preds squad. So we're on Nashville in regulation only (-117) 585 to make a nickel (it's also called the 3-way line).

In the Barstool Sportsbook, the first Spittin' Chiclets parlay of the year is up.

If you don't wanna lay the -200 money line and figure if the Preds win that Josi will get at least a point, this give you a different option. Have a great season, all.
