Nope. Fuck This. Hate It: FGCU's President Thinks The NCAA Tournament Will Stop Having Automatic Bids For Mid-Majors

Let's get straight to the point. Fuck no. I know threats are used quite a bit here. But I'm too close to Indianapolis to where I will drive my ass there and protest outside NCAA headquarters. I don't care if I'm 35 and 'too old' for hijinks like that. We're talking about the one thing I truly love. Outside of my family and kids and all that jazz. Actually it's kind of the same. I love them and sometimes they annoy the shit out of me (see: St. Peter's, Wisconsin in 2015, Luke Maye and UConn specifically).

I hate everything about this. The NCAA Tournament is based on having Cinderella's, the Blue Bloods and overreacting to events. It's why it's the best. Every March I get that little tingle somewhere in the cockles of my heart. I get those butterflies knowing what's coming in that month. The greatest three week stretch of basketball and sports in the year for me.

This can't go away. I don''t care how powerful these moron athletic directors and commissioners are. We're talking about something sacred here. I can live with UCLA and USC in the Big 10. I can live with Texas and Oklahoma in the SEC. I can't - I repeat I can't  - live with the NCAA Tournament being different.

I also see people on Twitter blaming all this on NIL and transfers. Uhh, nope. Sure isn't. It's because athletic directors and schools are trying to make as much money as possible - TV deals. They don't want to be limited and breaking away from the NCAA (basically what this is). Pretty simple math here. They want power + money. This is how they get it.

Is the NCAA Tournament perfect? Hell no. But guess what? Everyone has the same path to get there. You win your conference tournament. Mid-majors have the same chance to get there as a high-major team in that capacity. Then there's the at-large process. That's where it's a problem. You're relying on committee members and numbers. It's not perfect from seeding to the process. But the fact is the event is beautiful. 3 weeks, win or go home.

Don't you dare change this. Imagine not having Dunk City (still an all-time nickname).
