Weird Baseball Injuries Part 458: Rays Pitching Coach Kyle Snyder Pulled A Calf Muscle On His Way To Talk To A Pitcher On The Mound

Baseball guys are a different breed, they will find the wildest ways to get hurt. We have a new member to the "he did what?" club, his name is Kyle Snyder and he's the pitching coach for the Rays. He was on his way out to the mound to talk with Shane McClanahan but he popped his calf on his way to the mound. He had to make a U turn and head back to the dugout and then manager Kevin Cash went out to talk with McClanahan.

Walking, he got hurt walking.

Just the fact that it came on a walk to the mound was hilarious, it's nothing serious, probably not an IL stint but what a way to get hurt. I imagine he's in the trainers room today getting it stretched out, maybe some electric stimulation. He's in there with guys rehabbing torn Achilles, Tommy John surgery, and he's out here getting stretched out cuz he popped his calf muscle while walking to the mound.

This is the kind of stuff that happens when you get old. Hurt your back while sleeping, slip a disc playing softball, tweak something in your back putting on your shoes, hurt yourself while walking, Father Time is undefeated. Hope it's a smooth recovery for Snyder, maybe now we can get carts to get from the dugout to the mound for visits?
