OpTic Survive A Reverse Sweep Thriller! Recapping Day 1 of the $2.5 Million Call of Duty Tournament, CDL Champs

Day 1 of CDL Champs gave us all the intense matchups that we could've ever hoped for! This is the 4 day, $2.5 Million tournament that ends the competitive Call of Duty season. This year, it's being hosted at USC's Galen Center in front of a sold out crowd.

The day started off with a series between Seattle Surge vs London Royal Ravens. It was a hard fought series with both teams giving it their all. Before we knew it, we had a 2-2 series with the final map coming up. If you followed any of the action in Major IV, you know it was THE Major where virtually every single series went the full distance of 5 maps. CDL Champs showed that it was going to be the exact same storyline.

Talk about a tough day for the Queen.

Every single matchup went the distance and brought for some absolutely chaotic moments at the Galen Center:

Los Angeles Thieves avoid a MAJOR upset vs Boston Breach

Coming into the Day 1 action, the LA Thieves were the hottest and most dangerous team in the CDL. They won the most recent Major IV tournament and looked completely unstoppable. Boston came into Champs FIRING on all cylinders and immediately stunned LAT by taking map 1.

OpTic Texas survive a round 11 comeback vs Toronto Ultra

This was a scary series for OpTic because they haven't been able to win their Winner's 1st round matchup since Major 1…thankfully, they were able to break the curse! However, Ultra came DANGEROUSLY close to reverse sweeping the Green Wall.
