Ho Hum, The Mets Took 4 Of 5 Against The Braves After Outclassing Them In Every Facet Of Baseball

Giphy Images.

Alright Braves fans, I heard all your cries after Mets fans had the unmitigated gaul to celebrate their team beating a division rival in Game 1 of a five-game series that would help decide who wins the NL East, saying they were acting like it was their World Series. I heard the same thing from Yankees fans after the Mets swept the big bad Bronx Bombers two weeks earlier, which was admittedly in poor form considering both New York teams have the same record this morning.

So you guys have my word. I am not going to celebrate or even get excited about the Mets beating teams that they should be beating despite people telling me I shouldn't think the Mets are good because it was only April, still just May, the June Swoon was coming, they'll slip up in July, there's still lots of baseball to play in August, and the Mets collapsed in September two times roughly 15 years ago.

If you think about it, is it really that impressive to beat a team that has been looking up at you in the standings all season that you just outclassed on offense, defense, starting pitching, bullpen, base running, and managing?

Oh yeah and luck. Can't forget luck!

Crazy how luck works when you build a team around grinding out at bats and making contact instead of home run or bust.

The Mets have played 15 series against National League East teams and have yet to lose ONE series. No slip ups in a couple of games to lose two out of three in a sleepy May series. The Mets are 31-22 against teams with over .500 records. The Braves are 21-25. That seems kind of important when trying to figure out which team is better outside of the Mets being 8-4 against the Braves this year, no matter what Austin Riley thinks.

Sidenote: The Braves are 6-8 since this quote, the Mets are 12-2, and the Mets have added 6 games to their NL East lead

Again, I know the Braves were given the division after beating the shit out of the Rockies, A's, Pirates, and Nationals. But after yesterday, I think we can pump the brakes on all that talk considering they have more to worry about other than the team that has led the division for months now.

Despite all my promises made in this blog, I am still going to enjoy this video of our sweet Vogelbus rumbling, stumbling, and bumbling to home thanks to the greatest green light Joey Cora has ever given in his life.

Jacob deGrom reminding everyone that he is an absolute WEAPON added to a team that was crushing their division without him.

And of course the best entrance in all of baseball for the best finisher in all of baseball.

I'll wrap it up there because I don't want to make it seem like I am actually enjoying my favorite baseball team answering the bell for their biggest rivalry games.
