The Nationals Have Traded Juan Soto To The Padres For 5 Prospects and Eric Hosmer

Maybe an asteroid can hit Earth before the paperwork is finalized. That's all we can hope for. Fucking sucksssss. 23 years old. Gone. Traded. 

The return is fine, as far as I can tell. 3 of their top 5 prospects. CJ Abrams is awesome. Hassell can be a beast. Etc, etc.

But in reality, nobody was going to be happy about the return for Juan Fucking Soto. When you get 5 top prospects back for a generational player, it doesn't really feel like it matters. Maybe a couple of the prospects will become bonafide major leaguers. But will the do in their prime what Soto has done before the age of 24? Very unlikely. It's brutal. But that's business. Fucking sucks. And to the west coast too. So nobody is even gonna watch him. There are positives to this as well (rebuild, spreading money around, setting up the team for the future ownership, etc), but right now it's a dagger. Still won a World Series though, can't take that away from us. Brutal day though, my friends.
