HOLY SHIT, Vince McMahon Just Announced His Retirement From WWE

Now that is what we in the biz call a good old fashioned Friday news dump.

I don't think anybody that has seen the headlines involving Vince McMahon lately are shocked to see this. Especially after he stepped down as CEO last month. But at the same time, my jaw has been on the floor since this tweet came across my timeline.

Over the years, Vince McMahon has been more WWE than any person is part of their company on the planet. From owning to announcing to wrestling to every other thing involved with sports entertainment that he did.

I thought we would never see a WWE without Vince in it because either the WWE died or Vince died.

I'm not sure where everything goes from here for Vince or the company. There are obviously people here at Barstool much more suited to talk about what this means for the present and future for the company since I haven't watched pro wrestling in years. Hopefully they can talk about it on a podcast or something!

Sorry, that was a joke BFW used in his blog that I linked to, so I felt comfortable using it here. I retweeted this and you should too!

Anyway, this is a seismic moment in sports, entertainment, AND sports entertainment, even though it's a 76-year-old man doing what plenty people his age did years earlier in a business famous for fake outs.
