The Browns Are Signing Josh Rosen. Now Why Is That?

Well folks, if you would've told me back in 2018 when we were debating whether the Browns should take Baker Mayfield or Josh Rosen in the draft that we could have both of them, I'd have started the process of getting sized up for a Super Bowl ring. As long as we didn't take that small school bum Josh Allen from Wyoming! But just 4 years later, I'm not sure adding the former #10 pick can be considered Good News tonight. In fact, I think that this needs to be classified as Bad News. Because the Browns already have 3 quarterbacks in the room. So why would they need to add a 4th?

The answer is obvious. They expect Deshaun Watson to be suspended, and if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly, they expect it to be for a significant amount of time. Because if it were only going to be 2-4 games, I don't think you need to bring in Josh Rosen right now. People are going to say they're being proactive and don't want Josh Dobbs to be QB2 even for just one game, but we've known about this for months now. Why on July 21st, when the suspension is expected to be handed down literally any minute now, do the Browns bring in Josh Rosen and AJ McCarron to workout and immediately sign one? I think they know something we don't know yet....

I also think it's funny how the world has come back full circle this evening on Josh, who Schefter says is getting a shot to "prove he belongs" after saying this back in his senior year when the Browns were in the midst of a historic 0-16 season.

He dodged us once and now he needs us. But shit, sounds like we might need him too.

Oh, and if we're doing funny Josh Rosen quotes, let's add this one to the file as well..
