Marijuana For Active Military Members? A Congressman Introduced A Bill Addressing The Issue

From Task and Purpose:

Rep. Anthony Brown, a retired Army colonel, and former military lawyer, has introduced legislation that would require the Defense Department to review sentences for troops convicted of marijuana offenses as a first step in reforming the military’s justice system.

“As states around the country and the House take steps to reform our approach to cannabis, we need to ensure the military justice system reflects those changes,” Brown, a Democratic Congressman for Maryland, wrote in a statement to Task & Purpose. “Today, cannabis-related offenses are treated harshly in comparison with other comparable offenses. These disparities in punishment disproportionately impact service members of color.”

It's truly remarkable that weed is illegal federally still. The military is going through a huge recruiting dry period where the Army announced today that they need to get 20k to sign up in the next few weeks to make mission. Not great. The large conflicts with US involvement have slowed and the military is getting viewed more politically than any time in the last 20 years. The Post 9/11 military rarely saw recruiting trouble anywhere near this. When I talk to recruiters I know, they all say the same thing.

"Finding kids now who don't smoke pot or who don't take ADHD medication is difficult. Finding people who didnt have ADHD, smoke weed, or do a couple nose beers back in the day but they still wanna sign up aint the easiest thing in the world, you woke pussy liberal bitch." They talk to me so ugly.

Anyway, they should just make weed federally legal across the board, or at the very least ole Sleepy Joe could sign an executive order saying the Justice Department won't pursue any recreational marijuana use. Do that and have the DoD implement the same exact rules that Canada has. Absolutely no-brainer. We talk about those rules on this week's show. The cannabis segment starts when you click play.
