Johnny Gaudreau Must Have Completely Forgotten About The Cannons In Columbus Before He Signed With The Blue Jackets

First of all, yes, this hurts like a bitch to write a blog about Johnny Gaudreau as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets. I spent months of my life convincing myself that he'd be coming home to play for the Flyers and then when the time finally came to make it reality, Chuck Fletcher was too chicken shit to pull the strings to make it happen. Sickening. Maddening. Deplorable. But here's the thing...

I think Johnny deserves a do-over here. I mean there's absolutely no way he remembered about having to deal with the cannon for 41 home games per year when he first decided to sign with Columbus. Can you imagine the remorse the poor fella must be living with right now? It's a shame, really. There oughta be a 36-48 hour window where players can realize they messed up and take back their signature. Think about how long of a commitment Johnny made to Columbus. 7 years is a long ass time. He's going to be raising a family during those 7 years. He deserves to make a decision that he is 100% satisfied with. And clearly he's terrified of that cannon, so he should get a mulligan.

If the Flyers just so happen to unload JVR's contract during that time and pull a sonk job on those Braun and Deslauriers signings? Well then so be it. If the cap space is there, the cap space is there. But it's just not fair to Johnny Gaudreau to make him play in front of that cannon every night. Especially with the amount of points he'll be putting up.

P.S. -- This is honestly the most distraught I've been in quite some time.
