Blackhawks Make Three Free Agent Signings From The Top Of The Heap

Honestly...I can't believe I am saying this, but I LOVE these signings. I didn't think the Blackhawks would do anything today, but these guys are perfect contracts and roster fillers.

Here is the dream scenario for Max Domi:

He plays opposite of Patrick Kane on the left side. He rediscovers his game. It was only 4 years ago that he put up 72 points including 28 goals for Montreal. He has enough skill that he should keep Patrick Kane happy that he's not looking around the locker room like Will Smith at the end of "Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air". Then, when the trade deadline comes around and teams are desperate for top 9 or even top 6 help on the wings, they call up Kyle Davidson to inquire about Domi and he says "sure, you can have him. We'll even eat half of the cap hit. It'll just cost you a first round pick". That is good business right there.

Andreas Anthanasiou is fast as fuck. He's basically Louis Mendoza from D2: The Mighty Ducks. Top speed might be the fastest in the league or right there. He just can't do anything else. He will forecheck and give you 15 decent minutes a night. He is an NHLer which is not something you can say about many of the Hawks.

The best thing about these guys is that they're good enough to be on just about any NHL team, but not good enough to make the team good so Tanking Hard For Bedard is still on.

As for Alex Stalock....remember when Stan Bowman looked me in the eye and said that they were moving on from Crawford because Delia, Subban, and Lankinen needed a chance to prove themselves and that having Crawford sign for 2 years at $3M was an opportunity cost? Well turns out he was wrong and I was right. Alex Stalock to backup Mrazek. Whatever.

Good business today by the Hawks.

PS: Another one
