Untouchable: Xander Schauffele Wins AGAIN, This Time The Scottish Open

The X man!!! Guy is en fuego right now. Won the Travelers stateside in his last official start and beat a stacked field in the 36-hole JP McManus event earlier this week. Now he’s won the Scottish and is scorching hot going into the Open at St Andrews.

What’s most impressive about his win was that he was a part of a VERY tough tee time wave on Thursday. The wind came in heavy in the afternoon and made the course comically difficult for the guys playing in the back half of the day.

Xander literally weathered the storm with a 2-over 72 to not lose too much ground, and stepped on the gas on Friday and Saturday with a 65 and 66 to stake himself to a 2-shot lead going into Sunday. Two birdies early gave him a nice 4-shot cushion to start the day, which disappeared at one point but ultimately was enough to get it done.

A Xander Schauffele who is closing out tournaments is a dangerous man. Guy has had so many close calls in the past couple years and now he’s finishing. Has to be one of the favorites next week.

Also, should be noted that your boy is absolutely cooking on his picks right now.
