Abraham Ancer Appears To Be The Next Big Name To Jump Ship To LIV Golf And More May Be Coming This Week

While we were all watching an awesome Sunday of US Open golf, reports started pouring in that Abe Ancer was the next to jump ship to LIV Golf. Rumors were running rampant all weekend that there are numerous announcements of defections coming this week, and this sure as shit seems like a done deal. Hell, the PGA Tour website briefly removed his FedEx Cup standing on their website this morning.

LIV Golf seems to be piling up 2nd tier golfers. Abe is currently ranked 20th in the world and peaked at #11 early last year when he finally broke through for his 1st PGA Tour win at the WGC St. Jude. He's a name for sure and adds some good solid depth to the roster LIV is putting together, but to call him a "needle-mover" would be a serious reach. And while the 31-year old is a nice add for LIV, needle-movers are exactly what they need to really change the tide for most big-time players. Xander Schauffele is a needle-mover himself, and he essentially said exactly that over the weekend.

It's gonna be an interesting week for sure. Speculation is running rampant as to who might be joining Ancer in the next wave to make a move. Allegedly another "multiple major winner" is on deck.

If that's true, the realistic options are probably Bubba Watson and/or Brooks Koepka. And I guess Padraig Harrington could be considered one too. Guy very much fits the profile of washed European golfer looking for retirement dough. Doubt it's Morikawa and if it is… then we're on high alert.

And of course, Greg Norman is pushing forward in his effort to get LIV Golf recognized for Official World Golf Ranking points. He said over the weekend that he's sending in the application early this week. I wrote about why that matters so much HERE

This saga just keeps rolling. No end in sight.
