George Washington University Decided To 'Retire' The Nickname Colonials And The Leading Candidate To Replace It Is ... Wait For It ... The Hippos
So here we are with another team changing its name. I didn't know Colonials weren't inclusive enough, that's on me. Anyways, that's not really the point here. The point is the leading candidate to replace the Colonials - at least on Twitter - is ... the Hippos. That's right, the George Washington Hippos.

Okay maybe not 'leading' but it's apparently a favorite? It's what needs to happen. If you're going to get rid of Colonials, you need to go all the way to the other side. Just completely ditch any name associated with George Washington except Hippos, which is apparently a thing?
Frankly I don't give a shit about them changing their name because it has roughly 0 impact on my life except when I blog about them. Is it stupid? Sure. But I'm not going to throw a hissy fit over it. It's whatever. I'll let GWU alumni and students complain one way or the other. That said, former head coach Mike Lonergan who had some controversy there had a great response:
