The Knicks Are Finally Using Big Brain Thinking And Hiring Rick Brunson Who Just So Happens To Be The Dad Of Some Guy Named Jalen Brunson

Hell yes. I love this move because it's right out of a college recruiting playbook. Jalen Brunson and the Knicks have been a rumor for what feels like his entire career. Now that he's looking like NPOY Jalen Brunson from Nova it's getting more traction even with Mark Cuban saying the Mavs want to re-sign him. Cool. We just got his dad. I don't care if Thibs and Rick Brunson have a 3 decade long friendship and loyalty to each other. Oh no, this is all about getting a point guard that the Knicks desperately, desperately need. 

I need Rick to start recruiting right this second. Start putting in his ear that the Mavs run too much stuff for Luka. Start some mumbles that he'll never be as beloved as Boban in Dallas. Whatever it takes, I want - no, I need - Jalen Brunson as a Knick. And sure, I know exactly how this goes. I've been a Knicks for three decades. There will be photoshops. There will be rumors. There will be all this stuff only for the Knicks to miss out. But I don't care about the past. We have Leon Rose now. We have Rick Brunson. 

There's not a whole lot of options out there in free agency this year. In fact the current unrestricted free agency list is what I would classify as uh not great. It's the biggest need for the Knicks outside of you know, more talent. This accomplishes both. Plus Brunson fits in with the current core. He's a young guy and can be surrounded by young guys to grow and win (at some point it'll happen again).
