MLB Has Suspended Josh Donaldson One Game For His Incident With Tim Anderson On Saturday

And there it is, Josh Donaldson has been suspended one game by Major League Baseball for his altercation with Tim Anderson on Saturday. By now I think you know what went down, as it's been described by both sides fairly consistently. In the middle of the game on Saturday, Donaldson jogged by Tim Anderson and said, "what's up Jackie" to the White Sox shortstop. This was in reference to a 2019 article where Anderson said he felt like "today's Jackie Robinson." Donaldson claimed the two have joked about this in the past, but this time Anderson wasn't laughing. It eventually led to a benches clearing altercation with Anderson being held back by multiple teammates. Since then the internet has been chaotic to say the least with people either calling Josh Donaldson a racist or saying Tim Anderson overreacted. No one is listening to each other and instead social media has turned into a dumpster fire.

Two videos stood out to me....

and Joez McFly.

I agree pretty much with everything both are saying there. We know Josh Donaldson is that asshole you love to have on your team and you hate to deal with on the other side. He's the kind of the guy that enjoys rattling your cage and getting under your skin to get an edge. To me that's all he was doing here with Tim Anderson, bringing up a thing TA said in the past where he compared himself to an all-time great, and poking fun at him. I think both sides are telling the truth here and have given accurate accounts of their opinion of the situation. TA was legitimately bothered by it and doesn't view their relationship as one where you joke around like this. JD viewed it as getting under his skin and not in a racial charged manner. Now we're here.

Donaldson is being suspended for one game as well as being issued a fine. I don't necessarily agree with the suspension, but one game isn't gonna make me lose my mind. He's appealing it while he also finds himself on the covid IL. I think JD was apologetic to the media right after the incident and even was welcoming to a discussion with Anderson after. Hopefully this can all blow over soon and we can focus on baseball.
