John Daly Hitting The Opening Tee Shot And Birdieing The 1st Hole Is An AWESOME Way To Kick Off The PGA Championship

What a legend. The PGA should embrace JD being their opening tee shot guy. Him playing the PGA is one of my favorite treats of the year. At Augusta you get used to seeing Freddy Couples' sweet swing and Sandy Lyle's suspenders walking around the hallowed grounds, and you get Nicklaus and Player and Watson kicking things off. That's just part of the Masters' experience. The PGA should do the same for JD. To me, the PGA is synonymous with JD rippin darts and cruising around in his cart. This is a picture of him after smoking that opening tee shot.

The PGA Championship is the grittiest major of the 4. JD is grit. And a lot of casual sports fans just think of him as the caricature that he is, but the story of him winning Crooked Stick is one of the greatest underdog stories in the history of sports.
