My Starting 5 of Non Alcoholic (and Non Soda) Beverages Would Have Fared Well In The Dog Walk Draft

The Dog Walk crew just did a non alcoholic, non soda draft featuring the expert Frank The Tank. I know it's low hanging fruit to pick on choices or critique picks in these drafts, I vowed a long time ago not to do that. Instead , I will list what I think would be an extremely formidable starting 5 to stack up against anyway in the draft.

Before I do that, here is a link to the draft, as well as the graphic.

Last tangent, there are some very good picks on here, and everything is objective so what I think is good, another person may think is bad . So the real message is don't get too worked up about things.

Pick #1 :

Arizona Iced Tea 23 oz can

I have called this "the only recession proof thing left in this country". When a pallet got delivered to the office last week , they were attacked like Tickle Me Elmo dolls in the late 90's. The original Lemon is bar none the best non alcoholic beverage in the game. Now White Sox Dave gets some credit for ordering the big jug of Arizona Iced Tea, but for my money, the can is the cream of the crop. Bar none #1 pick. Can't tell you how many of these I have grabbed on a morning deli trip. It's a staple in my life. When you are kid (or a young adult) you know you are getting bang for your buck with this massive can. That 99 cents is a bargain. I also stand behind the fact that they will never raise the price of this can, when they do I am out.

Pick #2 : Citrus Cooler Gatorade

This flavor is slept on BIG TIME. It was extremely popular in the 80's and 90's in part to MJ being featured in the commercials. It was also my dad's favorite flavor , and I am old enough to remember glass bottles as Frank mentions in the draft- which do hit different, so any trips to the deli we always got a few bottles of Citrus Cooler. Then inexplicably , the flavor essentially went away for a long period of time . You couldn't find it anywhere. Then magically it came back at around 2012,2013. It seemed to lose a little bit of it's fastball from when i remember it as a kid, however it was still AWESOME. Also it's even better cold. I think Gatorade is on the Mount Rushmore of cold beverages. An ice cold gatorade is ELITE. If you are reading this and are unfamiliar with Citrus Cooler , just trust me and go pick up a bottle. It's worth it.

Pick #3 : Minute Maid Berry Punch

All of my supermarket trips have a few gallons of Berry Punch (the fruit punch is also really good), the best part is it's almost always on sale of 2 for $4 or $5). Solid, solid beverage. Good to have it in your fridge for the week. Strong beverage. It will make my starting lineup from now until eternity.

Pick #4: Riptide Rush Gatorade

If you think I am wrong, trust Clem…

I rest my case.

Pick #5: Snapple Iced Tea Lemon

Again, someone takes a Snapple, but doesn't take the classic lemon ? Major miss. Also - must be in the glass bottle. I know they are extinct and they changed over to plastic, but the glass (much like Gatorade) will always hit different.

Also, KFC agrees with me, as does Clem.

That's it. That's my list. I look forward to your lists, as well as your roasts of mine.
