Max Homa Wins The Wells Fargo Championship (Again)

MAX!!!!

This guy is just a finisher. He may not finish on the front page of leaderboards on a consistent basis, but when he does, he takes home the hardware. He’s only finished top 5 in a Tour event on 6 occasions in his career, and 4 of those are W’s. That’s incredible.

Which is extremely fitting for how this tournament played out. It was an absolute grind out there from start to finish. It basically rained the entire tournament, and Potomac, MD is not a pleasant place to be when it rains as much as it did. TPC Potomac is an awesome course and the crew there did an unreal job avoiding any delays and keeping this place playable. It was just a bit of a mud fight is all. There were some big numbers out there this week. Saturday saw only 4 guys go under par. Poor Jason Day had the 36 hole lead and saw it vanish that day with a 79.

So with all that said, this turned into a battle of survival. Both Keegan Bradley and Max were lights out with the putter, it just came down to Max making clutch putt after clutch putt on Sunday. He was absolutely pouring em into the heart of the cup. At one point he had 5 straight 1-putts. It felt like every time Max was going to give Keegan a window to make a move with a 2-shot swing, Max would bury an 8-footer to save par. Big time stones.

This marks Max’s 4th PGA Tour win. There are some pretty big names who can’t even say that. It’s time to start giving that man his roses as a legit player out here. Maybe not a top tier guy, and maybe not a future major winner, but he could be out here on Tour competing for a long while. Great Internet personality, great dude, but also a fuckin stick. Max.
