Viral Video: Optical Illusion In Milwaukee Tunnel Mystifies Drivers

It might be obvious to some right off the bat, but early this morning I let out an audible, "Ohhhhhhh," when I figured out what I was looking at here. You just don't expect a reverse mirage... Normally those look like water when they're not, and in this case it looked like a hole of nothingness when it was water. (Yes, Kate, we get it. It's called an illusion.) I'm for sure not alone in my amazement though, because it's got 2.3M views/340K+ 'likes' on Instagram, and on Twitter this video racked up a whopping 10.6M views/1M 'likes' in less than 24 hours. 

One of the original poster's hashtags was #milwaukee & a couple quick searches leads me to believe he was in the Kilbourn Tunnels right in the heart of the city. Not long ago it was refurbished following many complaints of poor lighting, etc. but clearly drainage was not fully addressed by the time it re-opened...

Either way, @_fuckjordan made it through unscathed and was smart enough to make sure his employer can't be mad about it...
