First off, has it really been 19 years since this shot? Christ does that make me feel old. Here's what non Celts fans might not realize about that shot. For the majority of my life, that was one of the biggest and best moments of my Celtics fandom. There was the surprise ECF run the year before, but other than that, shit was brutal for myself and the majority of Celts fans around my age. 

The point is, our basketball lives were not filled with too many awesome playoff moments. Pierce was "our guy" for my generation for a franchise that is filled with legitimate legends. It was awesome to see our guy have a moment like that.

We also don't need to mention that this same 2002-03 Celts team got swept in the very next round by the Nets. Instead, let's focus more about how the Celts just swept the 2022 Nets. Much more fun.

But if we're going to talk about this shot, we cannot use a version that does not include Mike Gorman's call. What is the NBA doing? So before we dive in, please rewatch this play as God intended

Now that's the good stuff. What a call, what a moment. It simply does not get better than Mike Gorman and that is not debateable.

I can't lie, watching Jayson Tatum who I would classify as this current generation's "guy" rewatch and talk about that iconic Pierce shot has me feeling all sorts of incredible things. Maybe it's because I'm still riding the high of the sweep, maybe it's because the Celts don't play again until probably Sunday so I'm craving any sort of Celts related content. Either way this is fantastic and something I have promptly injected right into my goddamn veins. 

I've long said that Tatum has moves that remind me of Pierce. I've called him Pierce 2.0 on several occasions dating back years

I'd say Tatum is on a pretty good pace to be the next Paul Pierce considering all he's doing is continuing to make Celtics franchise history every time he steps on the floor. We're seeing someone who could go down as one of the greatest Celtics to ever live if things go how we all want them to. For that to happen, of course, he needs to bring in the hardware, but it appears that he's certainly on the right path. It feels like every other game we see some sort of post game tweet where Tatum has done some shit not seen since Larry Bird. That dude was pretty good I guess.

All in all, I can't think of a better way to spend another well earned off day (because they swept the Nets. Did you know that? 4-0) than reliving one of my favorite Celtics moments of all time mixed in with some Jayson Tatum content. The vibes remain immaculate for this team right now and I am praying to God it never changes.
