Daniel Jeremiah Explains Why This Year's NFL Draft Doesn't Have As Much Buzz As The Last Few Drafts

On today's Pardon My Take... DANIEL JEREMIAH! The NFL Draft Expert for NFL Network joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter on today's show to preview all angles of this year's draft, QB rankings, the buzz around this year's draft, and much more. Speaking of the buzz, the 2022 NFL Draft is in Las Vegas this year, which is really cool. But aside from the new location, the flashiness of the prospects in this year's class don't seem like they are on par with the names in previous years. Why is that the case? Jeremiah gave his best answer to that question on today's show:

Mr. Cat: There is definitely less buzz, it feels like, about this draft. Is that because of the quarterbacks? Or is it overall, this draft is not up to snuff in terms of previous drafts?

Daniel Jeremiah: I think mainly the quarterbacks, you know, I think usually, that's what kind of drives the attention. I remember the year that Manziel was coming out, even though he wasn't going to be the first pick in the draft, everybody knew who he was. Everybody was intrigued where he was going to go, like that was the kind of storyline that was kind of the anchor to the coverage. And this year, we don't really have that.

Daniel Jeremiah: It's not only that they aren't like big time, big time quarterbacks, but if they were kind of mediocre quarterbacks, but they were at Alabama or Ohio State or, you know, Clemson. Like, the top quarterbacks in this draft class are from Pitt, from Liberty, Cincinnati, you know, North Carolina. The college fan base isn't really connected to them, and the NFL fan base is kind of figuring out who these guys are.

TLDR: The lack of quarterback intrigue compared to other years is the main reason why this year's NFL Draft doesn't have as much buzz as it does in 2022. On the flip side though, that could present an opportunity for a lot more unpredictability, especially on Thursday Night. Three more days!
