Recapping The Most Delightful Mets Home Opener Ever

So that was about as good as a baseball game is going to get, huh? A statue immortalizing a legend to kick things off followed by an absolute beatdown by the good guys throwing up 0's on the bump, hitting with runners in scoring position to put up crooked numbers, all while nothing but sun in the clear blue sky shined on what Large would call a honey of a day. I mean Frank The Tank was still complaining about James McCann's ohfer because that's what Frank does.

But for us relatively logical Mets fans, yesterday was perfect as we usher in a new era for Mets baseball.

A few quick thoughts from yesterday:

- First off, gotta thank Stu Feiner for getting us tickets in seats my poor ass should have no business sitting. Being able to sit there for a Mets game let alone Opening Day was true bucket list stuff. Uncle Stu is truly every bit the mensch that people say he is and Sandy is every bit a saint that she is made out to be for handling his crazy ass.

- I know it's early in the season and a bunch of wins came over bad teams. But the Mets overcoming the deGrom news right before Opening Day then overcoming two starters coming down with COVID right before the home opener has things feeling like it's no longer LOLMets. Yes, I am fully aware how stupid I sound after 8 whole games but the vibes at Citi Field were through the roof yesterday.

- No joke, KFC and I received at least 50 compliments on our Oh Buck t-shirts asking where they could buy them. I thought we'd get some shock and awe putting Riley Reid on a shirt, but didn't expect that level of admiration. Because of that, we cannot take the shirts out of the Barstool Store yet, but we must honor #The128 that bought these shirts back when there was a chance they'd be literally the only person rocking them.

I'm still not sure if I should call the police or child's services for the three people that bought the onesie. Nonetheless, shout out every single one of #The128, one of which was the literal first person I saw in the parking lot yesterday after arriving to the ballpark.

- I've personally made peace with the Lindorks that wanted Francisco Lindor off the Mets because he had a bad first two months after baptizing myself in the Church of Cohentology. But I love seeing that this meme has made its way to #MetsTwitter.

- Speaking of our Lord and savior, this smirk by Steve Cohen as the Wilpons got booed was real life Bobby Axe shit.

We broke down the rest of Opening Day last night exclusively on the We Gotta Believe YouTube (subscribe here). So check it out before the Mets hopefully keep this wagon rolling against the DBacks today.
