Point, Counterpoint: Did That Mets Fan Deserve To Have His Phone Thrown On The Field By A Phillies Fan? A Fellow Mets Fan Weighs In

Jordie already covered this from a Phillies fan perspective while fellow Fightins fan Smitty broke down every person of interest in it like it was the Zapruder film. Despite that, I felt the need to weigh in on this as a Mets fan considering one of my own had to go to the Verizon store this morning because his phone was launched onto the field.

When I first heard of this video, I was ready to be disturbed at some innocent Metropolitans fan being accosted by some rable rousers from Philadelphia. However after seeing everything that took place, I have no choice but to say this mamaluke Mets fan had what was coming to him. If you talk shit, gloat about a game, and put your phone directly in someone's face, you deserve to at the very LEAST have your phone thrown onto the field if not your body. Especially if you act like this afterwards.

It's like when some idiot jumps into a lion cage, gets torn to shreds, then people act like the lion has to be put down for acting like a lion. That same line of logic applies to Phillies fans. If you go willfully enter the domain of those lunatics to poke and prod them, you better be ready for them to bite, figuratively and maybe literally. Doubly so if they are getting outclassed by a better, more well-rounded ball club. Being heckled if not assaulted by a fan of a Philly team is part of the experience for out of towners, much like seeing the Green Monster at Fenway or being slammed through a table at a Bills game.

I don't run into too many Phillies fans or Delco accents I chose to live a comfortable distance from the city limits. Yet one of the few Phillies fans that I do see from time to time at work is Rone, whose idea of an innocent prank is loading up someone's chair with needles

These are the kind of people we have to deal with 19 times a year and that's if you aren't a fan of a team that rivals the Sixers, Flyers, or Birds. Proceed to interact with them at your own risk because as KFC said in his latest One Minute Mets video on the We Gotta Believe IG, Philly gonna Philly. Always.

Final Ruling For This Mets Fan:

    Giphy Images.

(That means he deserved to get his phone tossed)

Speaking of We Gotta Believe, we talk more about this week's series down in Philly where the starting pitching looked STELLAR, the bullpen looked whatever the opposite of stellar is, along with all the fan tomfoolery that went on with flying phones, Alec Bohm, and dudes with painted faces for April baseball games.
