The Giants' Old Ball Boys Falling And Tripping All Over Themselves Cracks Me Up Every Single Time

It's time we talk about what has been going on for a while in San Francisco. You seem to notice a few times a season that when a foul ball gets hit down the line at AT&T it's not a ball boy or ball girl chasing the ball down, it's someone your grandpas age. I don't know the exact reasoning for it but I love it, the Giants use old men as their ball boys. It's hilarious. We see a ball get laced down the line and instead of a younger female or teenage boy sprinting out there to get it we get Grandpa Silas shuffling out to field this grounder going 90. They seem to fall every single time, literally every time. They always end up falling and eating dirt but it cracks me up every single time. The guy above simply tried to turn around and fell, that is all it took. Ball bounced off the tarp and that was enough for him to eat it.

Yesterday we had a similar incident where the ball bounced off grandpa's foot and into his glove but not before it ended up taking him down in the process. Big tree fall hard. It definitely helps that he was wearing his original glove from his rookie t-ball season in 1924, but good for him for hanging onto the ball even after taking a spill right into the security guard's lap. A for effort, he made the play, didn't let the ball get by him, just couldn't make the out at first, but he didn't let it get into the outfield so that is a good play with me.

Amazing, the Rockies making this old guy get his steps in just to retrieve a foul ball. Instead of walking around the mall he gets to walk around the field chasing balls. Talk about a pace of play issue with the game. I love these group of old guys, they provide so much entertainment just by doing their job. It will be scary if one of them ever takes a bad hop and gets a ball to the nose. Won't be a pretty sight. The Giants know what they're doing by giving us this entertainment, I hope we start to see a wave of older ball boys around the league. Grandpas shuffling for grounders down in the corner at every ballpark in the country, can't wait. Again, I don't know why or how, but I love that the Giants do this. Forget having those little kids get to be ball boys, us old men need attention too.
