An 8-Year-Old Girl With Cancer Threw Out The First Pitch To Her Favorite Player, Brett Phillips. She Also Gave Him A Bracelet So Naturally He Wore It And Hit A Homer During Her Interview.

Stuff like this is why sports are the best. Brett Phillips just can't stay out of the spotlight, a day after giving us comic relief on the mound he goes out there and puts a giant smile on his biggest fans face. Chloe Grimes is an 8-year-old girl battling cancer she got a chance to throw out the first pitch to Phillips tonight before the Rays and As game. Grimes gave Phillips a gift before she left the field, a bracelet. Phillips put the bracelet on and was wearing it during the game. The Rays were interviewing Grimes and her family during Phillips at-bat and you know damn well what happened next. The second she was done talking about how she loves Phillips because of his smile and attitude and his airplane celebration he launches one deep to right. This is stuff you can't make up. An 8-year-old who's going through her second bout of cancer just wanted to give her favorite player a gift and he returned the favor in the form of a long ball while she was being interviewed. Somethings really are bigger than sports. What a cool moment here, not just for Phillips, but for Grimes and her family. Can't make this stuff up, sports are just the best. Hopefully the Rays can bring Chloe and her family to many more games for years and years to come.

You can see how emotional Phillips was after the game, brought to tears. Hopefully it's a special friendship and bond these two will have for a long time.
