Happy Opening Day! The Reds President Says Fans Don't Have An Option Besides To Support The Team Or They'll Just Move Out Of Cincinnati

Well, uh, that's a quote! Nothing says let's get Opening Day started with the President and CEO of the team saying they are the only show in town so who else are you going to cheer for and if you want them to make more money and compete more they'll just sell the team and move it. Not like the Reds have been a staple in Cincinnati for a century. Not like fans are rooting against the team.

I've said it before but Cincinnati is a baseball town. This city goes nuts for the Reds and it's slightly different than the Bengals. Shit, Opening Day here is a holiday.

And I get that baseball is a whole different animal. Trust me, I live and die for a team that's owned by Peter Angelos. It's not fun! Not fun at all when you aren't willing to spend and lose a bunch of good players. But loosely threatening a move is what I'd assume is last on the list in terms of winning fans over.

Part of me wants to give him props for the hubris though. Where are you going to go is an unbelievable response to asking about fans losing faith that they can build a winner. That's about as cocky as you can get. I don't know man, the fans could stop showing up to games. They could stop buying merch. There's a million different ways they can go somewhere else while still hoping the Reds, you know, win.

Happy Opening Day everyone!
