RIP To An Ohio State Legend, #7 Dwayne Haskins

Oh my God. Only 24 years old. Reports saying a dump truck clipped him at 7 am after his car broke down on the highway. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. What a tragic loss with so much life left to live. I'm not sure I have the words to describe this feeling, so instead, let us commemorate the life of someone who brought so many people so much joy....

Ohio State fans will forever remember Dwayne as a Buckeye legend. He's perhaps at the forefront of the discussion as the best quarterback to ever suit up for the Scarlet and Grey, but there is no discussion that he had the best single statistical season in Ohio State history. In his lone starting season, he threw for over 4,000 yards and 50 passing touchdowns, which still stands as the most not only Ohio State history, but Big Ten history.

His highlights are unreal and give me chills to watch this morning:

499 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Big 10 Championship game. A Heisman finalist, Rose Bowl MVP, and the Big Ten QB of the Year. That season will be remembered both in the hearts of Buckeye fans and in the record books forever. But let us not forget the first time the entire country got to see Dwayne, the year before as a freshman, when he took over for JT Barrett, and led the Buckeyes to a victory on the road at Michigan.

For someone who only played Michigan twice, you would think that game would be the most memorable performance. But nope, I choose when he dumped 62 on them the following year. 6 passing touchdowns on the biggest stage. A video-game-like performance.

And no Dwayne Haskins story can be told without bringing up his come from behind victory at Penn State…

So many great memories, but the best probably the one that will stick with me the most is that from the moment Dwayne Haskins set foot on Ohio State's campus, he said he was going to play there:

Don't act like that doesn't tear you up this morning. 24 years old….

RIP Dwayne Haskins. A Buckeye forever. You will never be forgotten.

Oh, and I'm not going to leave out that Adam Schefter, a Michigan Man, decided to use the news of Dwayne's tragic death as a way to take one last parting shot at the rival…

Unbelievably terrible professionalism. And while the tweet has now been deleted, Cardale Jones is making sure everyone doesn't forget.
