All Eyes Are On Khamzat Chimaev This Weekend
Undefeated mixed martial artist Khamzat Chimaev makes his long awaited return to the octagon this weekend at UFC 273 in Jacksonville, and he has his toughest challenge to date in front of him in former title contender Gilbert Burns.
Khamzat's still not impressed with the matchmakers' selection, however, and he's taking his opponent's chances pretty lightly once again as you can see from their encounter earlier in the week....

Dude told Gilbert Burns to eat a banana and some chocolate to bulk up before Saturday! How degrading is that?! If Burns wasn't such an even-keeled guy we mighta seen a naked fight in the hotel corridors there. Just couldn't be more politely insulting if you're Khamzat.
Usually, when we refer to a fighter taking his opposition lightly, it's a negative, but with Chimaev, I'm pretty sure it's a positive on intimidation alone. Khamzat has quite literally ran through every single human being put in front of him thus far (he's 4-0 in the UFC without getting hit) with the utmost confidence, and all that confidence is all justified!
Hell, this 10-0 fighter whose best win is over THE LEECH is gonna face Gilbert fuckin' Burns this weekend and he's a -530 favorite! Insane! I'm pretty sure he's gonna look like a -530 favorite tomorrow night, too!
People were hyping him up in Sweden before he had a single fight....
Dana White told Pat McAfee today that if Khamzat gets past Burns (and I think he will, with ease) his next test will be against Colby Covington. That's a banger of a fight AND potential fireworks in the build-up, so it doesn't surprise me that Dana/the UFC would want to squeeze that in before giving Chimaev a title shot.
Oh, and speaking of squeezing things, Ev is so high on Khamzat that he is offering his neck up for Chimaev to squeeze the life out of him….

No disrespect to Volk and The Korean Zombie or Aljo and Yan, but Burns/Chimaev is the people's main event this weekend….
